Why am I starting this podcast?

Hi my name is Tia.  Most people call me T or TT.  I am 48 yrs old and my home base is upstate New York.  I was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY.   I come from a very close and loving family.  Thank you mom and dad for being such amazing role models!  I have a dog named mason, one sister, two brothers, a sister in-law, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, many god children, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that I love so much they are family! 

Ok so why form Authentically Tia now?  Before I got sick I was a very active Real Estate Broker. My world crashed down when I heard the words Cancer for a minute that is, then I went into what we call it T.I. Jane mode to beat this.  Needless to say my Real Estate career I have spent decades building had to hit pause.  So loss on top of loss all due to health. How am I dealing?  I stepped into power I never knew I had and out came Authentically Tia.  

I am currently battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia I know I know scary SH!T.   I thought now is the time to share my story.  The behind the scene of my life that I have kept very private.  I used to be afraid of that C word.  I now choose not to give that word any power over me.  I plan on winning this battle and taking you all over the finish line with me!  I want to share how I keep a smile on my face and never give my power away to anything or anyone.

I am a girl that has learned to learn and live with being dyslexic, overcame being told by my guidance counselor in high school I would never be successful (oh was he wrong), sexual assault, domestic violence, recovered from drugs (28 years clean), finally after all that I thought I had finally got the best gift ever the perfect man for me.  My beloved husband Jon and I were friends since 1996 but didn't start dating until 2009.  We where married in 2011 and he tragically passed in 2014 at 38 yrs old. I didn't think I would survive that type of pain. Then one after the other I lost a lot of family, friends and my fur-baby masons brother logan to heaven. I have to say when I look back I am extremely proud of how I navigated thru all this in my life with grace and love.   I am the authentic person I am today because of all of it.  I wouldn't change a thing and hope sharing my story will assist others in being the warrior of their life!

So what do I like to do when I am healthy?  I love ice hockey.  I have played since I was 10.  On an all boys team back then girls teams didn't exist yet.  If the Bruins are on I am busy watching the game lol!  I also love to travel, downhill ski, hike (the picture here is me hiking the grand canyon word to the wise ride the donkey don't hike it lol), swim, read, pottery, drawing and painting. I love art. Most of all I love spending time with my fur baby mason, family and friends!  I look forward to getting back to all this once I win this battle and get my health back!  I will win!

I am turning what could easily of become the worst times in my life into the most wonderful times in my life! I look forward to going on this journey with all of you.  It isn't always easy but who said it can't be fun!  Cheers to the most amazing future ever!  Everything is always better when you focus on all that is good!  I am currently in the process of writing a book:  "We all have SH!T.  It's what you do with it that matters"  So much to look forward too!
